Memorial Day

boyziggy and I had a good time visiting lrc and zabster over the Memorial Day holiday, which we were all fortunate enough to have off work. Ziggy did have to work till 6 p.m. Sunday so we didn't arrive till quite late, but had planned to stay the night and do stuff the next day anyway. Larry gave me some helpful instructions on photography, as we now both have the same camera (I'd sold him my previous model a year or so ago, but he just upgraded recently). Ziggy was a willing model as we took dozens of pics of him in the backyard, trying out different lighting options. Larry's came out better but I put up a couple of mine in my day's photos here. Larry was kind enough to loan me one of his external flashes, to use with the FZ50's handy hot shoe.

We also enjoyed a stroll through downtown Santa Cruz, though Charlie Hong Kong was closed, and the food and service at my beloved Saturn Café was not up to par this time. We found a neat store, Om Gallery, with colorful lamps, Ziggyesque clothes, and a cute proprietor. Elizabeth kept up despite her broken foot as she has a nifty "knee walker" to wheel around on. We're all glad that she has been promoted to a walking cast and is healing well!

We swung by Palo Alto for a snack on the way home (thanks opus119, I recognized California St. as a good place to go because of you!), then take-out from Herbivore in the Mission before heading home.
