Swingjig concert

A couple days ago I got an e-mail saying that my friend and former co-worker Jon would be performing with his daughter Kyrie and their friend Albert in a band named Swingjig, at a Livermore coffee shop. I knew Jon was an awesome bass and guitar player and singer, and that he'd been teaching these skills to his daughter. So though I knew it would be a long BART trip to Dublin/Pleasanton, I left work a little early yesterday and took bus, BART, and then got a lift to Livermore from Jon's wife Carol.

I'm so glad I went! They were even more awesome than I imagined, doing a great mix of rock covers, originals, Celtic tunes and even a raga for goodness sake. Kyrie played bass and violin; Jon stuck to guitar and vocals. Albert played a variety of percussion. They rocked. Of course I took photos. Do go see them if you get a chance; hopefully they'll get some gigs in other parts of the Bay Area soon.
