Saturday in the Park

I had a great time with obadiah on Saturday. At boyziggy's suggestion (he was out of town), we went to the Power to the Peaceful concert in Golden Gate Park. We got there too late to see many of the musical acts and speakers (which included Julia Butterfly Hill and Ram Dass), but we did get to hear the entire Michael Franti/Spearhead set. I wasn't familiar with their music, with the exception of "Bomb the World" which boyziggy plays before every San Francisco Mime Troupe performance, but I wasn't disappointed. It was great dancing and feeling the energy of the 30,000 or so assembled people.

Afterwards we went to a great tapas restaurant in the Haight, Cha Cha Cha, and shopped for CDs and DVDs at Amoeba while waiting for our table ("only" a 45 minute wait - normally 2-3 hours, obadiah assured me). The food was great, and then we saw that A Mighty Wind was playing at the Red Vic just down the street. I had already seen it, but was happy to expose someone else to a fabulous movie. Plus, I had never been to the Red Vic before, so it was a treat to experience the comfy couches and lower prices.

After the movie we hung out at Bagdad Cafe in the Castro for a short time before calling it a night. All in all a very fun Saturday.
