playing bass

Prog rock goodness

Last night I worked out the main riff from one of my favorite Traffic songs, "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys". Tonight, after I was a good girl and practiced my scales and other stuff for my bass lesson, I continued trying to figure out the notes for the rest of the piece. After awhile I remembered: I already have a complete, note-for-note transcription of the entire eleven-minute-plus opus, acquired when I was looking for a Traffic song to bring to my classic rock band workshop two years ago. Thank you, San Francisco Public Library.

Now, I just need to find some keyboard-proficient friend who wants to jam with me on this, because there ain't no guitar parts in this song (which is part of why I picked "Every Mother's Son" for the workshop instead). Lots to do for organ and sax, though...
