Back in the running

Today I went jogging for the first time in over a year. It felt really good! I took my old route on the Hyde Street cable car line, over the hill to Aquatic Park. Going down the steep hill was actually the toughest part; I had to slow to walking pace to keep my balance. And dodging pedestrians wasn't fun either; I didn't have to do that so much when I went out earlier in the morning. But it was worth it to get up at 8 a.m. instead of 6, and not have to rush to shower and change immediately after returning.

According to Gmaps Pedometer I covered 1.7 miles in 24 minutes, for a slow 14 min/mile pace. I'm sure my times will improve as I get in better condition. I was pouring with sweat after this run, and drank every last drop of the water I'd brought with me (about half of a 45 oz Camelbak). But I definitely enjoyed the effort.
