Academy of Sciences visit

thomwatson took me to the California Academy of Sciences, where he has a membership, today. I had yet to go there since the new facility opened. We had a good lunch at Crepevine and then headed into Golden Gate Park.

Looking at all of the animals was fun, and the planetarium experience was spectacular. I couldn't resist taking lots of photos, of course, though they didn't turn out all that well in my opinion; judge for yourself. (A macro lens, long telephoto, and polarizing filter all would have helped.)

It's amusing that though I have a relatively low aptitude in the subject, science museums are the only kind I like to visit - especially the hands-on kind, like the Exploratorium. I'm not usually interested in looking at paintings or other art exhibits for very long. Unfortunately the science museums tend to attract a lot more families with children than the art museums do...
