Writer's Block: Beep, Bop, Boop

What was the first video or computer game you ever played? Did you love it or hate it, and why?

I have a vague memory of playing a text-only version of blackjack on a machine at a college in West Virginia around 1980, when I was ten years old. My babysitter was a student there and sometimes brought me to campus, and at least this one time she plunked me down in front of the machine... I got bored after awhile but didn't know how to turn it off or get it to do anything else, and couldn't leave until she came back to get me. So I was somewhat less than impressed...

Flash-forward four years or so, and I was typing BASIC programs line-by-line into our Commodore VIC-20 and playing primitive graphical games that way :-) (More rewarding than just sticking a cartridge in or playing at the arcade...)
