Breakfast for me: Oatmeal with mashed banana and almond milk*, vanilla rooibos tea with almond milk and sugar.
Breakfast for Ziggy: Earl Grey tea** with almond milk and sugar, 1 small soy mocha, 1/2 whole-wheat bagel.
Lunch for me: Bean and corn soup (refried beans, corn, vegetable broth, salsa), 1 slice whole-wheat toast with cornmeal spread.
Lunch for Ziggy: Kale-cucumber-lemon juice with wheatgrass, kale salad, quinoa, sprouts and veggies with tahini sauce.***
Snack for me: Hot chocolate (fat- and caffeine-free Wonderslim cocoa, almond milk, sugar), 1 slice whole-wheat bread with cornmeal spread.
Dinner for me: Pinto beans and brown rice with salsa, broccoli with lemon juice and nutritional yeast, 1/2 of a reduced-sugar orange soda, rooibos chai tea with almond milk and sugar.
Dinner for Ziggy: Leftover lunch, another green juice, bean and corn soup, 2 cups Earl Grey tea with soymilk.
Exercise for me: 3.5 miles roundtrip walking to/from bass lesson (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes).
Starting weights: Me, 145 pounds, Ziggy, 194 pounds. I'd like to lose about 20 pounds total; Ziggy would like to get down to 170 or so. Obviously we aren't going to lose anywhere near that much in the 12 days; 1-2 pounds a week is a reasonable amount.
Feelings: I feel pretty good today, though I had a dip in energy mid-afternoon and took a long nap. Ziggy got little sleep as he couldn't get a cab after a party last night and had to walk home from the Mission in the rain at 2:30 in the morning, poor guy, and he's working 9 a.m. - 11 p.m. today, so he's feeling like crap.
Tomorrow I plan to go shopping and buy more rice, potatoes, yams, and other things. It feels good to be cooking again...
* Nuts are not actually allowed on the 12 day diet, but see this forum thread for my rationale on using almond milk anyway.
** Ziggy's not quite ready to cut out caffeine yet, and had very little sleep last night.
*** Tahini isn't allowed on the diet either as it contains high-fat sesame seeds; Ziggy's easing into this program as he's working very long hours and I haven't had a chance to do a lot of cooking for us yet.
