Julie breakfast: Oatmeal with banana, applesauce, and almond milk; herbal tea with sugar and almond milk
Ziggy breakfast: Cereal with soymilk; herbal tea; 1/2 grapefruit
Julie lunch: Pasta-bean-tomato casserole; 1/2 grapefruit
Ziggy lunch: Veggie chicken noodle soup; whole wheat toast
Julie snacks: Hot cocoa
Ziggy snacks: Banana-strawberry-date-almond milk smoothie; herbal tea; vitamin water; mini-bagel with strawberry jam
Julie dinner: Thai rice noodles with broccoli
Ziggy dinner: Veggie chicken strips with broccoli
Julie exercise: Approx 90 minutes walking. Got very sweaty carrying my bass in the rain; the overcast weather was deceptive!
Feelings: I felt good today; pretty happy and energetic. We both cheated on fat a bit though; Ziggy as he's not feeling well and having comfort food (the veggie chicken dishes contained oil and soy), and me because I went to a friend's birthday dinner at a restaurant with limited veggie options (the rice noodles were vegan, but fried). Hopefully this won't be too much of a setback; I can already feel the oily noodles settling a bit heavily in my stomach.
Going to the birthday dinner tonight was the first time I'd eaten out since I started this diet last Saturday. The other guests (none of whom I'd met besides the birthday boy) were amazed at my discipline when I told them about my diet. I really didn't feel deprived though, especially since virtually every other dish ordered had meat in it, which I have zero interest in, having been vegetarian for nearly 17 years now. Having a late lunch did make it easier to pass up the fried tofu appetizers however.
