Blue Bear Live IV benefit concert

Last night's photo shoot for the Blue Bear School of Music benefit concert was a great experience. I'd shot at Bimbo's 365 before, for the Noisepop Festival shoot for West Coast Performer magazine last year, and I'd also seen Nellie McKay perform there, so I was familiar with the venue. I used my 30mm/1.4 for the beginning of the shoot, then switched to my 50/1.4 (which has better bokeh) and finally my 17-55/2.8 to get some wide shots. Some of the other photographers were jockeying for position, but many in the audience were very polite and offered to let me move in front of them at the stage.

Blue Bear Live IV featuring Los Lobos and Jackie Greene

The kids' bands which started the show had some standout performers. At least one of the adolescent guitar players is certainly destined for stardom. Los Lobos was fun, as was surprise guest Elvin Bishop, and Jackie Greene who I managed to catch with some great expressions. The full set is on my SmugMug site.
