Note to self re: weight. - the funcrunch files

Oct. 7th, 2009 10:51 am Note to self re: weight.

You have now reached goal weight. It took a stomach bug to get there, but as of now the scale still reads 125 pounds. You are 5' 4" with a BMI of 21.5 which is smack in the middle of the "normal" range. You do not need to lose any more weight. You may officially stop obsessing about your double chin and the extra layer of fat around your middle; they do not significantly detract from your appearance. Just keep eating healthy foods and exercising for maintenance.

Time to celebrate! Go out and buy a suit or two; you need dressier clothes now that you're shooting weddings, and all of your slacks are at least two sizes too large. And donate all those size 12, 14, and 16 jeans to charity or a clothing swap for heavens' sake; hopefully, you'll not be needing them again.

Way to go!

Excellently done! And yeah, now's time to just be very happy with your shape. Maintenance can be a challenge, but I found it a lot easier when I was saying "I'm staying at my goal!" than it was the many previous times when I was just saying "I'm trying to stay at the point I gave up at".

I assume you weren't able to do the race on Sunday. Any other races in the offing? I got to chat with a couple of Dolphin South End folks after the San Jose Half, I'm thinking I really need to make the trip to do a race with them.

Re: Way to go!

Thanks! And yeah, I couldn't bring myself to do the Bridge to Bridge given that I was way undertrained and still worried about my jumpy stomach. I've never had a DNF for a race I've actually started, and didn't want this to be a first. Still, I was really looking forward to this race. *sigh*

I was tentatively planning to do the DSE 10K in Golden Gate Park this Sunday, but I still feel underprepared, though my stomach seems OK for now. If I can manage a run on Friday I might still do it, we'll see...

Congratulations on reaching your target weight. Among other things that means that you chose a reasonable goal.

I know for a fact that you don't need to lose any more to be a total hottie.

If you find it helps your exercise motivation to have goals, maybe it'll help concentrate on performance goals, running distances or times, for example. Or you could sign up for acrobatics courses at one of the circus schools in the City. :)

Re: Congratulations

Thanks! I do still have a goal of building up to running 40K a week by my 40th birthday, February 3.

Re: Congratulations

Easy, just run a marathon a week starting on your birthday, that's a bit over 40K.

Go you - both for the goal met and the accompanying realizations.

Congratulations!! So how much did you lose, all total?
Date:October 7th, 2009 07:11 pm (UTC)
Thanks! Twenty pounds lost total since I started my latest fitness journey last November.

Yay, congratulations on making your goal!

(I now wear a 12; if you would like to pass some of those this way, it would be very much appreciated.)

Good for you! A very healthy-sounding approach. Enjoy your new bod!
