I think I have a tentative run/walk location schedule worked out:
Monday: Brisk walk + stair climbing, either Filbert between Leavenworth and Hyde or Broadway between Taylor and Jones
Tuesday: Walk to/from Washington Square Park - Run laps
Wednesday: Run - Location undecided
Thursday: Walk to/from Washington Square Park - Run laps
Friday: Brisk walk to and around Lafayette Park (bus home)
Saturday: Brisk walk to the Cannery (for farmer's market shopping) and back
Sunday: Run along the Embarcadero (bus to/from)
Hopefully this schedule will provide enough variety to keep me from being bored. My time is limited weekday mornings, so I need to stick to places I can walk or bus to/from relatively quickly.
Maybe I should get a pedometer to figure out exactly how far I'm running in Washington Square Park. I was able to measure the Embarcadero distance using Yahoo Maps. From the Ferry Building to SBC Park is approximately 1.1 miles. It took me a good 30 minutes to cover that round-trip distance (2.2 miles) yesterday, but I was interrupted twice by a moving truck blocking the sidewalk, and I did walk for the last couple of minutes to cool down. Still, I really should be able to maintain a speed of 12 minutes per mile at the very highest. I've lost so much conditioning since my racing days.
